What for
Requirement for the Blue Card and § 18a/18b visa, for regulated professions (doctors, nursing, teachers, chartered engineers, master craftsmen), for pay grading and for the employer. University degrees: Anabin check, if needed ZAB statement of comparability (€200, 3 months). Vocational qualifications: IHK FOSA (industry, trade), Chamber of Crafts (construction, electrical, plumbing), €100–600, up to 3 months after a complete application. Health professions: Approbation/professional licence at the state examination office with knowledge or language test.
Process
Check the degree in Anabin (H+ status of the institution), identify the competent body, compile documents with apostille and certified translation, apply, answer queries, plan adaptation training in case of partial recognition. Accelerated skilled worker procedure (§ 81a AufenthG) via the employer: €411 fee, recognition in 2 months.

Anabin check and classification €90. ZAB statement support €290. IHK FOSA/HWK equivalence support €490. Approbation/professional licence from €890. Plus authority fees, translations, apostille.
