Who needs a visa?
Everyone except Australians and New Zealanders needs a visa. German and EU citizens: eVisitor (Subclass 651), free, 3 months per stay. Everyone else – even with a German residence permit: Visitor Visa Subclass 600.
Fees and processing time
Visitor 600: AUD 200 (about AUD 205 from 1 July 2026); Student 500: AUD 2,000; Skills in Demand 482: AUD 3,210 (Core Skills); Skilled Independent 189: AUD 4,910; Working Holiday 417/462: AUD 670. Processing Visitor 600: 50% in 7 days, 90% in 30 days; Student: 1–3 months; 482: 1–3 months after nomination.
Where to apply?
Fully online via ImmiAccount. Biometrics are required for nationals of certain countries (incl. Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan) at the Australian Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) in Berlin. The visa is electronic (VEVO), nothing in the passport.

Common mistakes
